The Legend

It's said that in the Middle Ages the Apostle Santiago's grave was discovered in Galicia,Spain. People in Europe started to talk about this legend and to believe in it. It was then when the tradition of walking the Way of Santiago.
León is a part of this story,so lots of pilgrims have to cross our city to finish their adventure.
We have created this blog to show  you this amazing experience, so... nothing better than doing it!
We hope that you enjoy the journey!!

We started walking from León to Hospital de Órbigo!

Our experience :)

We started walking the path from Villadangos del Páramo at 10:00 am.
Our main objective was to visit the hostel for pilgrims there; however, it was still closed, so we took  some pics and continued walking.
We decided to visit an old church which is in the part of way from Villadangos to San Martín del Camino( the village where we visited three hostels.) We had chance and a wonderful guide explained us church's story, which was really interesting; it belonged to the Baroque period, what was quite obvious beacause of the decoration we could see in it.
We left the church at 10:45 am , and we were walking the way during other three quarters approximately.
While we walked, we sang and danced and we had a great time.
Then,we arrived San Martín del Camino: just at the entering of the village, we found a sweet little cat which was lost, so we decided to feed it and love it!
And of course , we took some pics with it.

The hostels of piligrims

Along the way, we visited several hotels. The first one, located in Villadangos, was closed.
Afterwards, we found more of them. In San Martín del Camino there were three. The owners of the hostels told us interesting things and facts about the Way to Santiago, the nationalities of the pilgrims and their own personal experiences.
Talking about nationalities, there was a great variety: above all, there were german, korean, french, finnish, slovak and spanish.
The owners said that they had always got on well with the pilgrims and they were very lovely and kind, although they stayed only for a few days (two or three).
Every owner highlighted the roughness of the way. Most of them had done it before several times. All of them did it during the winter, as their job kept them busy on summer. One of them affirmed that the best season to perform it was on the spring and the fall, because the weather is more appropriated. Moreover, it's more personal and quiet, as the amount of pilgrims is lower, so it's more suitable for people who want to do it for spiritual reasons.

The begining

Here we started our adventure, Villadangos del Páramo. The big picture is in the Coucil Square. There we visited the church and Benito (a neighbour) explained us its story. The third image was taken in the hostel of pilgrims. From here we went to San Martín del Camino where we were surprised.

We are in third hostel in San Martín.
